How to Level Up in Any Area of Your Life?
Do you know what it takes to level up?
To level up in your personal life?
In your business?
In your relationship?
I am Timi Takács, a women’s Mentor and artist-coach, and through my own experience, I can show you that anything is possible.
Over the past decade or so, I have been continuously engaged in self-awareness work. At first, I tried to gain knowledge on my own, in an autodidactic way, through books and audio materials. Then, when I realised that this alone was not enough and didn’t help me as I wished, I started working with professional helpers.
Looking back on this long period, I can see how much I went through, how many traumas I experienced and processed, while new experiences from my childhood, youth, and adulthood surfaced—ones I had previously suppressed, but had to face in order to move forward.
I realised—this insight actually came to me just yesterday morning while I was hanging out the laundry—that every level-up I have experienced was preceded by stepping out of my comfort zone.
For example, I had a major fear: I was very afraid of snakes. Last summer, while spending a weekend in the Mátra mountains, I saw three snakes in about an hour and completely panicked. I told my partner that I wanted to go home immediately, to pack up right away, that I had seen enough and did not want to see another snake. Let’s leave now!
Of course, we did not go home, so I had to reconsider the situation and figure out how to overcome it, which meant stepping out of my comfort zone. What would you have done in a similar situation? And what do you think I did?
First, I walked back and found the snake I had seen a few minutes earlier, and I watched it for several minutes. This was a huge step for me because I would always run away at the sight of even one snake. But this was not enough—I knew I still had to work on it. Then, a few days later, a call for entries appeared for a competition where the task was to paint a lizard. That was the perfect assignment for me—I love lizards, I always stop to watch them, how they sunbathe, the variety of colours they display.
So I started painting the lizard’s head, and as I did, I realised that it actually looks just like a snake. Have you noticed this similarity before?
I asked myself: okay, it looks exactly the same, so why is it that I find the lizard beautiful, have no problem with it, and could watch it for minutes on end—sometimes even thinking of having one at home—yet I hate snakes?
If you also dislike them, think about why you feel that way.
As I explored this question, I examined what feelings and thoughts arose in me: disgusting, slimy, dangerous, frightening, evil.
I realised that my problem with snakes was that they have no legs, and for some reason, this fact made them terrifying to me.
Do you have an animal or anything else that you fear this intensely? Have you ever tried to befriend it? If so, how did it go? What did you do to make it happen?
This was a very powerful story for me, but of course, I have had many such comfort-zone expansions. Perhaps the most significant ones I want to highlight here are two.
One was when I felt that I could not progress on my own, that I was stuck, even though I knew my life’s purpose, yet I could not fully realise it. There was a wall I could not break through, but I did not know the reason. At that point, I felt it was necessary to seek a professional helper and invested in a trauma-resolution coaching process worth 1 million HUF. I felt that I needed this work, and that it had to be with the practitioner, who offered it. I did not have that much money at the time, but I trusted that the funds would manifest, because I was certain that this inner work would move me closer to my desired goal. And so it did—the money came together, and I achieved tremendous changes thanks to this self-awareness work.
I probably owe it to this experience that today I am able to support women so effectively—modestly, I can say, perhaps more so than many others in this country.
Have you ever felt a similar calling?
My most recent comfort-zone challenge has been going live. For a long time, I only communicated in writing on social media, because speaking live to a screen felt very foreign. I occasionally posted a video, but I would film it multiple times until I felt it was acceptable. Yet a few weeks ago, I felt called to step into the light, to start communicating live, and to create more video content, because I see that there is greater demand for this type of education.
I delved deeper into why this might be. I noticed that although I love to read and often read long posts, very few people in my environment are willing to do this. The likely reason is that everyone is constantly busy and full of tasks, with little time to stop and read. However, a video can be listened to while working or moving about. You do not necessarily have to watch it—the focus is on hearing the information the speaker, the expert, is sharing. This applies to me as well: I often listen to audio materials from my mentor or other experts I follow while walking, travelling, or even cooking and washing up.
So, what I want to emphasise after all this is:
DARE to step out of your comfort zone!
DARE to try things you have never done before!
DARE to explore new methods!
DARE to seek the support of a professional you have not yet worked with, if you cannot achieve your level-up alone!
DARE to take the first steps toward change!
DARE to MAKE DECISIONS!
As the previous examples show—and these are just a few among many—you can see that it is worthwhile, that it pays off to invest your time, energy, and money, because without these, the desired progress cannot be achieved.
If you have any questions about what I have shared, please do not hesitate to contact me!
