Trauma Release – My Personal Story

Trauma Release – My Personal Story

The Relationship Between Trauma Release and Art Based Coaching

A few weeks ago, a colleague approached me to lead a workshop in her grief and loss support group, during their closing session for sixteen widows who affectionately call themselves “the little deer”.

When I realised that the date would be 14 October, my heart tightened for a moment, but of course, we know that nothing happens by chance.

This day has been a sad and loss-filled day for me as well, for seven years now. On this day, I lost a tiny life, which was extremely difficult for me to process at the time.

With the support of several helpers and through my own method, which centres on creative expression, I managed to process it.

Numerous paintings were created of her, Lilla, and these artworks helped me work through the trauma and move towards healing. Now, after all these years, I am able to share this story, which until now I have only shared with a few people.

On the morning of the workshop, I lit a candle and performed the ritual I undertake each year. Afterwards, I prepared for the presentation.

The topic was identifying values, discovering resources, and creating a vision for the future. I brought very powerful and deep exercises to the group, enhanced with the Colourful Moods and Colourful Feelings creative self-awareness association cards.

After initial shyness, the participants gradually began to open up. Insights, AHA moments, and proposed solutions emerged, for which I am grateful to have been able to support so many wonderful and strong women who trusted me and allowed me to glimpse a small part of their lives on that very special day for me.

Since then, some participants have continued the inner work with me, strengthening themselves emotionally and spiritually, and finding a new purpose to guide their lives after loss.

I would also like to thank Ágnes Simon for the opportunity, who shared the following feedback about the event:

“We met with the widows from my six-month programme one Sunday at my home. Seventeen of us were together, who had already started creating their new versions of themselves. I was thinking about what kind of programme could enrich this day and further support their self-image.

During my search, I came across Timi and her wonderful hand-painted self-awareness cards. With the help of these coaching cards, we explored what goals and dreams we could create for ourselves. It was a profound journey into the world of desires, and Timi’s beautiful hand-painted cards helped release any blocks we might have had, revealing the possibilities in our lives. We spent a truly beautiful day together.

Everyone has already learned to manage their thoughts, handle their emotions, and lay the foundations for a life that can be loved again. Timi’s programme enhanced this further; with the cards, additional blocks were released, and all participants were almost euphoric, sensing that more barriers had fallen away.

Tools are essential for processing loss. One should not accept that life can only be bitter and that pain is eternal, but rather recognise that it is your responsibility to find the appropriate tools to manage your grief. Timi’s cards provide such tools, and they proved that they effectively contribute to processing loss.

Thank you, Timi, for coming to us in person that day and leading the programme. We are all deeply grateful. We hope there will be more sessions like this in the future.”
