Why Is It Important to Love OurSELVES?
What is self-love?
Self-love is the ability to accept and cherish ourselves as we are, with all our strengths and imperfections. It is essential because it helps us become happier, healthier, more balanced, and more confident.
Self-love is not selfishness!
It is, rather, an inner peace and contentment that allows us to feel comfortable in our own skin and to be open and compassionate towards others.
Developing self-love is not always easy, but there are ways to cultivate it.
Some examples include:
- – Practice self-actualisation: Do what truly matters to you and brings you joy. Stay true to your values and goals, and do not let others unduly influence your decisions.
- – Nurture your body and soul: Pay attention to healthy nutrition, regular exercise, rest, and relaxation. Engage in activities that relax, energise, and inspire you. Give yourself the time and space for regeneration.
- – Step out of your comfort zone: Try new things, take risks, make mistakes, learn, and grow. Do not fear failure or criticism; instead, see them as opportunities for growth. Be open to new experiences and change.
- – Choose your company wisely: Surround yourself with people who love, support, accept, and inspire you. Avoid those who bring you down, hurt, exploit, or manipulate you. Build healthy and honest relationships where mutual respect and appreciation flourish.
- – Engage in self-awareness activities: Participate in practices like “Beyond Trauma – Self-Exploration and Creativity” (Alkotó Anyu group), or engage in journaling, art, sport, or hobbies. These help you better understand yourself and discover your strengths, weaknesses, feelings, and desires.
These methods can help increase self-love and improve self-esteem.
